The European Green Deal, first presented in December 2019, is a set of policy initiatives by the European Commission with the overarching aim of making Europe climate-neutral in 2050 but it has goals extending to many different sectors, too.
ESIG has organized several stakeholder days to highlight where “Solvents and the Green Deal” are already intertwined and important whilst seeking input from the value chain on what more can be done.
Mid-January 2024, ESIG organized its fourth Stakeholder Day focusing on Safe and Sustainable Solvents & Their Applications. Representatives from the EU Commission as well as from the Commission’s Joint Research Centre provided insight into the policy background and the Safe and Sustainable by design (SSbD) framework developed by the Commission to support the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability (CSS). During the panel discussion selected downstream users provided their perspective.
