- SIA Spring Dinner at the UK Houses of Parliament
As we go to press, the SIA and its Members are busy planning for the CHEMUK, which takes place in Birmingham on 21-22nd May.
SIA Spring Dinner
The iconic UK Houses of Parliament in London was at full capacity as the backdrop for the SIA Annual Spring Dinner on 13th March.
Attracting Members and Guests from 43 companies to the first event in the 2025 SIA calendar, this unique dining experience didn’t disappoint, as the Association returned to the venue for a third time.
SIA Chief Executive, Andrew Norman said, ‘It is always great to catch up with our Members on such occasions and the support we receive is huge, particularly in such testing times for the chemical industry. I would like to thank everyone for coming along and I look forward to the same again and more at the SIA Conference in October.

SIA ‘Lunch & Learn’ Webinars
The SIA hosted a free Lunch & Learn Webinar – DSEAR ATEX – Risk management and what it means for employers in the chemical industry, which took place in March.
The flammability of solvents, the hazards of static discharge and the necessity of intrinsically safe environments is widely documented within the industry. Richard Ellis from SIA Associate Members, EXSolutions (Pyroban), addressed the challenges of legislative and training hierarchy, looking at risk management and the real-life application of DSEAR and ATEX for businesses handling flammable solvents.
The SIA would like to express our sincere thanks to Richard and EX Solutions (Pyroban) for an interesting and informative session.
The next online SIA Lunch & Learn session – PFAS – A Forever Problem? takes place on Thursday 12th June. Details of how to register are available on the SIA website www.solvents.org.uk
