Experts from the Glycol Ethers group contributed to several publications over the last weeks both being published in “Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology.”<\/p>\n

\"\"Propylene Oxide Derived Glycol Ethers: A Review of the Potential of Alkyl Glycol Ethers to Cause Endocrine Disruption<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

The extensive analysis of available literature and data concerning the endocrine-disrupting properties of P-series glycol ethers (PGE) revealed no significant evidence to support other published claims that PGE target endocrine organs or perturb endocrine pathways.<\/p>\n

The main isomers in commercial propylene oxide derived (P series) glycol ethers are secondary alcohols that cannot oxidise to reproductive metabolites.<\/p>\n

The acute vapour inhalation toxicity of 2-butoxyethanol. Points considered when designing and conducting a study in Guinea pigs and evaluating existing inhalation toxicity data on low volatility solvents<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

This article discusses results obtained from an acute inhalation toxicity study with guinea pigs by nose-only exposure to the substance 2-butoxyethanol at exposures close to the maximum attainable saturation vapour concentration.<\/p>\n

The guinea pigs showed no adverse effects when exposed by inhalation to the saturated vapour of 2-butoxyethanol at 3 mg\/L for 4 h. The authors note that the saturated vapour concentrations which were calculated according to thermodynamic laws cannot be reached in real testing setups. The overall conclusion can only be that 2-butoxyethanol vapour is expected to have a low acute inhalation toxicity to humans.<\/p>\n
