CSC Jäklechemie, a distributor of specialty and industrial chemicals located in Southern Germany, is the winner of ESIG’s 7th Product Stewardship Award. The award was presented to Jäklechemie at Cefic’s Responsible Care Conference on 23 October in Prague.
Their winning entry “Solvents in the 21st century – new approaches in product and environmental safety create a new type of customer orientation” convinced the jury of Jäklechemie’s ethical management of chemicals, their extraordinary social responsibility scheme and their comprehensive product stewardship programme along the value chain.
John Greenhough, Chairman of ESIG’s Product Stewardship Group, said: “I am delighted that Jäklechemie has won the 7th ESIG Product Stewardship Award. Over the last ten years, they have invested a lot in a complete modernization programme in order to meet the needs of their customers and to increase the safety of handling solvents. It is a responsible enterprise with an outstanding approach of safety and sustainability.”
The ESIG Product Stewardship Award recognises companies that achieve significant health, safety and environmental improvements in the handling, storage, use or transportation of solvents. First created in 1999, it is designed to showcase and reward excellence and continuous progress in these areas.
CSC Jäklechemie was selected by an independent jury comprising senior representatives from the European Commission, the trade press and health, safety & environment experts from trade associations other than ESIG.
