    New Guidelines on the application of the ATEX (ATmosphere EXplosive) Directive

    At its 30th of July 2005 meeting, the ATEX Standing Committee (composed of the EU Member States representatives) has approved the second updated edition of the guidelines on the application of Directive 94/9/EC on the approximation of the laws of the Member States concerning equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially Explosive Atmoshperes.

    In June 2005, the European paints trade body Cepe has finalised a series of guidelines to help manufacturers comply with the Paint Directive as between 3,000 and 5,000 EU companies are expected to be affected, most of them SMEs.
